My thoughts on Agent 64's playtest

Special thanks to Replicant D6

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, despite being a little busier than normal this month. I was lucky enough to take part in Agent 64's playtest. You have to request hopefully you get in. Thankfully I checked my emails to saw the confirmation I can give it a try. I knew about Agent 64 for a couple years now.

I grew up with GoldenEye, still among the finest licensed movie games I ever played!!! An friend introduced me to Perfect Dark on the same console. At one point, I played a little of Timesplitters 2 to a degree. Agent 64 is heavily inspired by those amazing FPS games. Each difficulty determines how many objectives you got to complete.

The playtest started on it's multiplayer portion. Right now it's a little limited but nearly close to how much GoldenEye offers. I had to increase my mouse movement for superior accuracy. Late into the playtest, a few single player missions became available. I played through all those missions by myself. The difficulty is what you expect from those games.

The controls you can customize. Personally I felt the default controls works well enough. The actual look of the game was amazing!!! The audio was very on par with those games. I absolutely loved an easter egg of an Nintendo 64 style game console. This felt like a good mix of these games or more directly a particular mod I haven't played.

GoldenEye was recreated within Perfect Dark mod. Like Perfect Dark, you can add bots in the multiplayer modes. You also can customize em to a degree. For me, this was quite nostalgia of that era I missed so much. Still one of my favorite FPS styles. Agent 64 I felt nailed everything perfectly. I don't think they need to do much.

If anything I do have some possible suggestions to make the game just a little better. It's actually decent enough to do well if it were to come out now on Steam. But of course I wanted to give out some ideas to improve the overall experience. Perfect Dark had a feature allowing you to create your own multiplayer modes.

It would be awesome if Agent 64 had it's own variation of a custom difficulty as well. A level editor could go a long way within the community. They get to make their own missions everyone on Steam could give a try. I also would like some form of interactivity like in Perfect Dark for it's main menu. Which was mind blowing they pulled off that.

I also think some might enjoy randomizer objectives. Which could work if it's done right. Imagine the same missions but the actual objectives. Obviously must be possible to complete could be randomize. For example, instead of gaining access to a location. You might now be searching to eliminate a target or blow up that location.

Why stop there right when we also could randomize weapons the enemies could be using too? Just imagine an easy mission suddenly made difficult with enemies having weapons. Like rocket launchers that might kill you in one hit if you aren't careful. The element of surprise further test your adaptability to situations.

You could just picked up armor a few minutes ago. Possibly get attacked by a weapon that instantly took it all with some of your health. No one wants this game to be incredibly easy. In fact, those going to play for a lot of hours expects to be challenged. This feature could either make or break those players.

I know that's sounds quite ambitious. But these games were ambitious to begin with. I do think they are going into the right direction. Agent 64 should be a huge hit when it comes to Steam. Outside indie developers, not many mainstream ones knows how to make decent FPS games. For me, it's a nice surprise Agent 64 coming out in the near future.

Let's be honest, the world wasn't done with this style FPS games. It just simply disappeared without a trace. Yes I'm also aware of TimeSplitters Rewind. I also tried out a couple missions in that. I'm feeling both of these going to change the world!!! For the present, I really want Agent 64 to bring back the much needed nostalgia.

Agent 64 is going to be the next GoldenEye/Perfect Dark. Not only that, some of the finest FPS games I ever played were by indie developers. You can't blame my standards being this high for the game. I do think Agent 64 going to be given the care it needs to be a truly amazing FPS game. Honestly, I would love people to really enjoy this FPS game soon.
