I know I got a lot to discuss here. Two legendary cartoon characters going at it. Somehow this lived up to the hype as well as expectations it had. Easily among the most creative episodes they ever done. I can confirm unlike Scooby-Doo vs Courage there is a winner. I absolutely loved everything about this episode. I would even dare to say among my favorites to date.
If I had any issues it's very minor at best. I also knew this was going to be close for a ridiculous match up. Both their analyze sections were surprisingly in depth. The actual fight animation itself was hand drawn. Which is rare it's just that for the show. I loved the voices with limited lines both characters were given. We even seen several sections of texts suddenly scrolled down for more stuff!!!
They even included a weird Chinese licensed Tom & Jerry game for this!!! I also knew that gun would decide who wins this fight. When you have a gun capable of removing ridiculousness out of cartoon characters. Which already pretty ridiculous in itself to begin with. Not to mention, the famous rules for Wile chase cartoons meant to somewhat balance things.
This is proof Wile possibly too ridiculous of a character to exist. Tom is pretty ridiculous just not Looney Tunes scaling ridiculousness!!! They also done breaking down categories who ultimately would win in a fight. Tom did win one category I can't argue much since it's somewhat true what they stated. They even kept going doing special thanks on the side.
For me it's amazing when franchises attempt to tone characters down. A great example of this is DC comics with Superman. Sure some of what he could do differs depending on versions. But Superman always been an insanely unbalanced superhero character. They even acknowledged those rules gotten broken including when Chuck Jones making their cartoon shorts.
Speaking of Jones, he also ended up making several Tom & Jerry shorts as well. If you look him up you may be quite surprised a lot of stuff he's done over the years. I just hope Jones looking down with a smile they done this episode. I'm just surprised they didn't bring up similarities with Sylvester the Cat. Another Looney Tunes character with several similarities to Tom.
Don't expect to see my username there. I wasn't a backer after all for their kickstarter. I simply paid to take part in the voting for Tournament of Champions back in 2023. Just in case people wondered how I helped made this amazing Death Battle episode happened. Literately right on the dot a thousand votes. I recalled having fun talking to people within topics for this fight.
I was quite satisfied with the actual episode. I could see some people slightly preferring Scooby-Doo vs Courage. To be honest you really can't go wrong with either cartoon theme episode. This simply meant a little more to me. I always been a huge fan of their respective franchises for a long time. This fight animation felt like a good mix of both franchises done just right.
There's plenty of surprises within the episode itself. For me four episodes in a row I was quite excited for. Then they chosen to follow up with Deku vs Spider-Man (Miles). I'm not sure how to research that regarding Miles until they state otherwise. Which means I may have to do it like James Bond vs John Wick as close to the chest as possible.
Back to Wile vs Tom, it was very amazing what we gotten here. Plenty of rather impressive editing some of the finest to date. The entire episode screams creativity as well as possibilities. Especially considering a few notable similar cartoon fights are always being thrown around. Some of which I also wanna see myself.
Just not crazy about Daffy Duck vs Donald Duck personally. Although I do see the appeal of doing that cartoon duck fight. Bugs Bunny vs Mickey Mouse is going to be one ridiculous ride to cartoon insanity lol. I also wanna see Bluto vs Pete go at it. My money says Pete going to win. Obviously this was very well researched.
More than Spawn vs Ghost Rider I confessed. Spawn shouldn't been given his God form for that episode. End of the day, the long waiting was well worth every minute of it. Also getting the one rematch I always wanted in the same season. This already becoming one of my favorite seasons to date. I'm so glad Wile vs Tom finally happened!!!
Wile vs Tom might even cause an official crossover with the two working together. Which had happened a few times since then. I always enjoyed their hand drawn fights. Usually some of my absolute favorite fights. I'll name another famous example to prevent repetitiveness. Samurai Jack vs Afro Samurai a true classic in every sense of the word.
Also considering both characters dates back to the 1940s!!! They really had their work cut out for em research wise. Not only that, there's no bad moments at all. Literately every two to three seconds something interesting comes up. You can't help but either listen or see stuff while watching the episode. Again the editing was quite impressive.
I would give this particular episode a perfect score of 10. It truly deserves that ranking I couldn't find anything small enough to point out that could affect it's scoring. Virtually everything about the actual Death Battle episode is perfection!!! I highly recommend checking this episode out soon. I hope we get more similar cartoon theme episodes in the near future.
