This will be a very lengthy blog post. Please take all the time you'll need to read it. Trust me, I'm not going to hold back comparing the two here. I'm going to say virtually everything I wanna say. Maybe it might inspire others to tackle the same topic who really knows? What I do know for sure is Chucky show regretting how they went about Season 2 recently.
Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, due to a couple busy months. A particular blog project was in the works but didn't go further than the planning out the comparison itself. But I already previously commented a few times on YouTube. I even made a few memes on this particular topic. Well we're finally going to discuss it here.
Did Chucky Season 2 rip off A Nightmare on Elm Street 3?
I also know I previously stated I wasn't going to spoil the show. But for this topic, I'm dropping that to spoil Season 2 of the show just for this comparison. For the record, Chucky did rip some stuff off from Freddy from other Freddy movies. For example, Super Freddy was briefly used in A Nightmare on Elm Street 5. Buff Chucky was in a few episodes whose a muscular variation of the character.
Another example being multiple Freddies in Wes Craven's New Nightmare. From Cult to Chucky to the show, multiple Chuckies. Also Freddy was too comical in Freddy's Dead. In Chucky's case, that was Seed of Chucky. Interesting fact, Seed of Chucky is the only Chucky movie I actually watched in theaters true story.
Obviously both slasher villains has similar personalities while wearing striped clothing. Keep in mind, none of this is the actual comparison I came here to do. I just figured to throw out some examples that isn't going to connect within today's comparison. I will strongly say A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 is way better than Season 2 of Chucky show hands down.
I also wanna point out this isn't going to be in the order it happens either. I am sure after this comparison a lot of people likely agree with what I think. Honestly, Chucky show needs to step up their game or get canceled much faster than expected. No more further delays let's start the real comparison, just know I took notable amount of time to study everything.
Also no I won't be discussing the season finale episode since most of the comparison is all the other episodes prior. I will say it has one of my favorite kills on the show. A kill that rivals some of the finest Leatherface ever gave to his victims. It's kinda sad when a possessed doll look amazing doing that in comparison.
Comparison 1
In Philip's nightmare, Freddy controlled Philip like a puppet then caused him to fall to his death.
Good Chucky tricks Nadine into throwing her out the building to her death.
Both involved some form of manipulation. Also involved the victim falling to their death. I hate to say not very original on Chucky's part. Also some of Freddy's victims witnessed Philip's death. Nadine's friends were very close by the window she fell from. Except they were notably closer to Chucky in comparison.
The jury agrees it's a rip off of Freddy.
Comparison 2
In Jennifer's nightmare, Jennifer watching TV gets scared when the host of a talk show transformed into Freddy about to kill the guest.
During Chucky's talk show episode, current wrestler Liv Morgan gets killed live on TV.
Meme
I don't have to explain much on Freddy, all of it was well executed. Chucky made a weird filler episode, it's still canon to the story. But parts of it, Chucky is hosting it as well as featuring the story in the same episode. Chucky made arrangements on his talk show to kill wrestler Liv Morgan. Also indirectly mirroring the famous actress quickly killed off by Freddy in Jennifer's nightmare.

Comparison 3
Dr. Gorgon injured puts Freddy's remains into the ground then he lays Freddy's spirit to rest.
Father Bryce performs an exorcism on Good Chucky.
Keep in mind, both their rituals were performed by other people they tried to kill off. In Freddy's case, he was busy dealing with a dying Nancy and Kristen. Dr. Gorgon pushes Freddy's bones into a hole. He says the words as he spills holy water on his bones that defeats Freddy. This Chucky gets his soul transferred into Father Bryce before causing both their deaths by causing Bryce's body to explode.
I can't say Chucky ripped off Freddy here. But Freddy did possess someone in Freddy vs. Jason before. Chucky later possessed a few people's bodies. Also their rituals were vastly different. One was meant to lay Freddy's soul to rest while the other was to remove his soul from a doll that backfired. Also the actual process was completed someone did die but in vastly different ways.

Comparison 4
Both locations goes under lock down because some people weren't following the rules.
In A Nightmare on Elm Street 3, Joey with Will wakes up the other patients. Just in time of Philips' death caused by Freddy. Dr. Simms ordered the windows to be barred up. Also a time curfew they are forced to return to their rooms. In vice versa, some of Jake's friends searches the nearby forest. This led to a similar event with the doors locked included.
Basically the rules got broken. Ultimately it was for a good cause since people were getting murdered. Let's be honest, it's easily to argue it both ways. I could argue this is in fact a rip off of the events of that movie. But I also could counter it by saying different things triggered a similar outcome. This is likely the most debatable among the entire compilation.
The jury agrees this one is a tie.
Comparison 5
Amanda's spirit talks to Dr. Gordon a few times in the movie.
Sister Ruth becomes a follower of Chucky.
Meme
A little bit of a weirder comparison here. Both had notable Church ladies that may had ties with the killer. Like Amanda's spirit was actually using an atlas to disguise the fact she's Freddy's mother. Sister Ruth over a brief moment ends up serving Buff Chucky. Obviously, this is a more recent relationship in comparison.
Both were sisters in a Church as in being Nuns. This is more of a role reversal because Amanda was disgusted about her child. In two movies, she does help to a degree to stop her son. Although, the later movie Freddy taken her body despite her being a spirit herself. Sister Rush got killed by Chucky's daughter Glenda.
The jury agrees this isn't a rip of Freddy at all.
Comparison 6
Nancy returns to help the teens of Elm Street at an hospital.
Andy, Kyle and Nica returns to help the teens on the show.
In this comparison we have old characters that previously defeated the killer that returns to help the newer group. Chucky show was very lucky, none of them died in Season 2. Unfortunately for Nancy, she wasn't so lucky. Both has similar roles that does fight the killer again as well as prevent more from getting killed.
A huge amount of the season since we get to see a lot of character's points of view. We know it's took almost the entire season for all the heroes to come together. This is one of a few reasons why I can't say Chucky show ripping off Freddy here. Another big reason being, those classic characters lives. Therefore, I stand with the following verdict.

Comparison 7
For most of the movie, Dr. Gordon wasn't helping the teens.
For most of Season 2, Father Bryce wasn't helping the teens.
Now this one is largely similar up to a point. Until Dr. Gordon & Father Bryce decided to help them out. People were still dying within their care. Also Dr. Gordon wasn't the one in charge of the hospital. Although I will be comparing her shortly. Father Bryce made things worst for the main group the show focused on.
At first, neither listened until they finally got to see it with their own eyes. A strange dream session with Nancy in Dr. Gordon's case. Father Bryce gets involved with Good Chucky's exorcism. Which also involved another Chucky's soul to get transferred in that dol body. Although that's one of two major differences, I still gotta call it how I see it folks.

Comparison 8
Dr. Simms doesn't help the teens at all.
Dr. Mixter doesn't help the teens at all just Chucky.
A very straight forward comparison. Dr. Mixter was involved with some of Chucky's deceased victims. She also was involved with the show's main group. She virtually done little to nothing to help them. She allowed Lexy's sister to hold onto her doll. Which was later revealed to be Chucky disguised. She even attempted to kill some people.
Dr. Simms ran the hospital the main group are patients in. She virtually made things worst as the movie went on. In this aspect, she was being strict yet not fully understood what's happening in her hospital. Dr. Mixter was an ally of Chucky before his doll days. Although, Chucky ended up betraying her in the end.
Keep in mind, Dr. Mixter willingly chose to not focus on curing Chucky. But rather how to make him more into an monster. Both were older female doctors that only made things worst for everyone else. Dr. Mixter also helps out at the orphanage where the main group was staying for most the season. There's some clear differences but I felt my decision likely going to be the right call here.

Comparison 9
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 led to a team being formed to face Freddy.
All the good characters reunited at one point during Season 2 to kill off Chucky.
Both were previous victims of their respective killer. Late into Season 2, all the heroes came together. Sadly they all got tricked by Chucky, he ended up escaping. In Freddy's case, what's left of the teens figured out how to use their dream powers against him. Which slightly betters their chances since he's a God like being there.
The actual fighting is short lived with a few deaths. Honestly, this one ends up being more different than alike I say. Freddy done most of the fighting in the dream world. Chucky also has multiple bodies that all had their own stories through out the season. This alone is clear proof despite a few similarities, it's still too different.

Comparison 10
Taryn was struggling with drug addiction sadly killed by Freddy through it.
Lexy was struggling with drug addiction she hid from everyone else except Nadine.
This was a recurring theme for a particular troubled female character. Taryn was trying to stay out from drugs while Lexy became an addict. Until Nadine eventually got her out of it. Lexy still lives while Taryn got killed by drug overdose by Freddy. We do see more of why Lexy became the way she is. Yet I do actually like Taryn in comparison, she was trying to redeem herself prior to death.

Comparison 11
Jennifer wanted to become an actress.
Jennifer was an actress trapped in Tiffany's old doll body.
A little weird comparison that involves characters both named Jennifer. In A Nightmare on Elm Street 3, Jennifer's dream was to become an actress. Sadly got cut short by Freddy in one of the movie's best kills. Also one of the greatest one liners ever in a horror movie ever spoken!!! In Chucky series, Jennifer Tilly is an actress just like in real life.
Until Tiffany swapped bodies with her. For years, Tilly was trapped in Tiffany's old doll body. Tiffany tricked people into thinking she's Jennifer including her sister Meg Tilly. Sadly, Tiffany killed her sister when she found out the truth. Later on, Tilly made a run that led to getting killed in traffic. Tiffany already killed her acting career prior.
I am not going to lie because this is a tricky one to decide. Both involved a character named Jennifer. Whose death was in some way involved with a killer. One wanted to become an actress while the other had her entire life destroyed by a killer. I think after thinking this through I believe I do know the right call here.

Comparison 12
When awake, Will moves around in a wheel chair.
Nica/Chucky had to use an wheel chair due to Nica's limbs got cut off.
Both involved someone in a wheel chair. Keep in mind, up to a point late into the season. Chucky was sharing Nica's body as well. Nica's body got to experience things on both sides. Either as her trying to escape or Chucky working with her against Tiffany or his own goals. Will became a wizard master before killed off by Freddy with ease.

Comparison 13
Nancy's dad John got murdered in the junkyard by Freddy using his bones.
Detective Gavin got murdered by Tiffany in Tily's house.
Nancy's dad used to be a police officer before he loss the job. Detective Gavin was an active detective looking into Nica. Honestly, this is vastly different since one used to be a police officer while the other got murdered on duty. Their respective stories up to their deaths is also notably different as well. So I strongly felt the verdict is the right call here.

At one point, Freddy made mirror clones.
A lot of Chucky dolls got killed this season.
As previously stated Chucky show has a lot of Chuckies. Majority of them dies early on this season. A handful of them, we get to see their points of view within the story. One short scene in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3, the group enters an area filled with mirrors. Freddy creates mirror clones of himself. He nearly takes three of them before Joey yelling destroys every mirror.
Although, this was a short scene. Most of Season 2 on the show, the main group dealt with several Chuckies. The most famous one introduced was The Colonel. Whose a direct character reference of the movie, Apocalypse Now. Yes they actually went there I'm not kidding. Each major Chucky we get to see were notably different from each other.
Eventually, they started to turn on each other. The Colonel killed Buff Chucky in a stupid but tactical way. The Colonel gets killed by Andy no surprise there. Good Chucky dies as an exorcism backfires on Father Bryce. The main Chucky ends up escaping the catholic school through the doctor's body. It's virtually every Chucky for themselves, not even mentioning a lot of them got killed by The Colonel too.

Comparison 15
In the dream world, the group found each other where Kristen was.
Lexy and Nadine used the windows to get back into Devon & Jake's room.
In both cases following their respective lock downs. The group had an surprisingly easy way to reunite with each other. Although it's done differently, the main reason doing so was to protect each other from the killer. All of a sudden, it's strikingly similar despite things. So I kinda have no choice where to go here.
The jury agrees it's a rip off of Freddy.
Comparison 16
Freddy slashed Kristen's wrist that led her going to the hospital.
Chucky triggered a bomb killing a child led the teen group going to a catholic school.
The main similarity is something bad happened at home. Forcing someone to live in a place they ultimately aren't safe in. Freddy slashed Kristen's wrist. Which got mistaken by her mom as she attempted to commit suicide. In Chucky's case, he originally planned to blow up more people. He ended up blowing himself with a kid up after detonating a bomb.
Ultimately the main group gets blamed for the death of that child. Dr. Mixter recommends sending them to the catholic school instead. Sadly, it also was a place Chucky spent a years growing up. I believe this alone is so vastly different. It's virtually impossible for me to go the other way. I strongly felt there's only one verdict to give.

Comparison 17
Kincaid gets superhuman strength in dreams.
Buff Chucky has superhuman strength.
I should point out, Kincaid does return in A Nightmare on Elm Street 4. Although, this comparison more about the third entry. Buff Chucky is strong enough to send a person flying with a single punch. He even delivers a fatal punch through the chest. He also survived some of Good Chucky's attacks to end up gaining Sister Ruth's assistance.
Kincaid does show some of his super strength. He easily bends a chair as well as used a huge pipe on Freddy. Sadly we don't see much but he's clearly the strongest in the gang while in the dream world. In both cases, neither does much. It kinda doesn't matter since Kincaid does die the following movie. But I say through different means we do have super strong characters with similar personalities.

Comparison 18
Taryn uses knives in dreams.
Glenda killed a few people with knives.
Glenda had more good motive than evil during the events of Season 2. Although, some of her events makes her more neutral. Glenda is skilled with knives including killing Sister Ruth off quickly. Taryn gets out two switch blade knives against Freddy. Sadly, she loses to Freddy in a rather painful way. Both had a similar attitude as well.

Final verdict 9-8-1
The jury decided Season 2 of Chucky show isn't a rip off of A Nightmare on Elm Street 3. Yes, some similarities were strikingly similar. Also a good number of them were vastly different from each other. Chucky show does just enough to differ itself from that film in question. Ultimately, this follows suit like Dead Rising/Dawn of the Dead lawsuit where despite the similarities were vastly different.
Chucky Season 2 isn't a rip off of A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 film.
