Not a lot of people knows this I'm also a huge TMNT fan. I felt with the new TMNT game coming out also this year. Konami and Nickelodeon picked the perfect time to do this. It will be released on many platforms both digital & physical releases. Oh man I felt I died then went to heaven here. We are getting thirteen TMNT games in one compilation.
1. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Arcade)
2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time (Arcade)
3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (NES)
4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game (NES)
5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project (NES)
6. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (NES)
7. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time (SNES)
8. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (SNES)
9. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist (Sega Genesis)
10. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (Sega Genesis)
11. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fall of the Foot Clan (Game Boy)
12. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Back from the Sewers (Game Boy)
13. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Radical Rescue (Game Boy)
Virtually all of that from 1989 to 1994 including most Japanese versions. Oh wait it gets even better than that. They also have challenges as well as boss rushes you can do. Plenty of additional compilation stuff relating to many things TMNT in one place. They also included online play for these games too. I saw this trailer mind blown it's actually happening.
Let's be honest, Konami by themselves isn't doing well. I am happy with some of the compilations more recently with their name on it. For me, TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist is my most personal connection here. I know for a lot of people it will be the Arcade and Nintendo games respectively. It was the first TMNT game I ever played.
Not only that, I remembered in my old house as a kid going down stairs to play that game on our Sega Genesis. Even after an incident that occurred, that game made me proud to be an TMNT fan. Of course I also been briefly about TMNT: Tournament Fighters on SNES & Genesis respectively. I don't recall playing the SNES game.
We rented the Genesis game, I quickly wasn't happy with it. I rather play Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie on the same console. Now that's an excellent licensed beat em up game. You are getting mostly beat em ups with some interesting variety games as well. Three fighting games that are vastly different from each other.
What's even crazier is April only playable in one game while Casey being playable in two versions of TMNT: Tournament Fighters. You'll get plenty of your favorite characters. Some of these games added toy figure characters not often with slightly more lesser known comic characters. A lot of people forgot Pizza Hut had a deal with TMNT that helped both of them greatly.
TMNT II: The Arcade Game has some in game advertising of Pizza Hut. Later removed from it's rereleases. In vice versa, it got more people to eat their food especially pizza. This might sound crazy but I think this will be the one game I'm waiting for the most this year. It's filled with nostalgia especially if you're a TMNT fan like myself.
No I didn't own many TMNT figures yeah I had some but more of X-Men figures. Sadly I doubt we'll get a compilation of the best X-Men games. Oh man I would drop everything for that I'm not kidding. Back to TMNT, the only real exclusion is TMNT: The Manhattan Missions. It's a DOS game made by a different company.
The most interesting fact is it so happens to be one of two TMNT games to have Tatsu. In the first two live action movies, Tatsu was essentially Shredder's right hand man. The other game being you guess it TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist. Some of these games also has Super Shredder usually as the final boss. They even brought in the famous duo of Tokka & Rahzar.
I know most fans can't get enough of Bebop & Rocksteady. Believe it or not, I knew about Tokka and Rahzar first. I kinda liked the concept of a mutated turtle & a mutated wolf fighting the turtles. Yes I know they were replacing Bebop & Rocksteady at the time. More recently in a movie, the duo everyone wanted came back.
Konami tried getting four versions of TMNT: Tournament Fighters. Notice on all the covers, each one represents one of the four turtles. Sadly, Michelangelo's game never happened with little to go on. All we know is Michelangelo would've been on the cover like the other ones. We don't even know why it got canned or which platform it was meant for.
Let's be honest, TMNT franchise wasn't doing well at the time. So that likely was a factor for that not happening. This is a collection that will set the standards. Maybe not the current game compilation standards but rather for this franchise. The bar about to get set insanely high. To me, this likely will become my new favorite TMNT game.
It sorta like Rare Replay because some of my favorite games are also included in that. I felt this is going to make a lot of people happy. Some interesting history here if you're willing to dig a little like this following fact. When TMNT NES came out, a lot of people were disappointed it wasn't a port of the first arcade game.
Konami response was to make the next TMNT NES game a port of that game. They extended all the stages while adding new stuff. Two new bosses with Mutated Stockman replacing the duo of Bebop & Rocksteady. A weird fact outside the United States, the first NES TMNT game is standalone.
Honestly I don't see how you could go wrong with this. Virtually all the TMNT games you want in one place. This is a must have for TMNT fans. You'll get plenty of everything you want plus extras. This will do more than scream TMNT, it will reach heaven itself in record time now that' impressive stuff.
