Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, I kept tuning in Bawkbasoup on Twitch & YouTube. He spent a few weeks playing Resident Evil series for long hours. Currently over six days worth of Resident Evil content. His editors is taking a lot of time to edit every single RE run in this marathon into videos. As a huge fan of the franchise, I clearly got a lot to say.
Keep in mind, a lot of streams over two weeks worth of gaming. He took breaks in between them all but still mostly long streams. The average length possibly could be 8 to 11 hours. I got to respect someone going full in. Especially when the fans kept adding in RE stuff for him to play. Not to mention, the insane rate they were going about it alone is worth giving him much deserved praise.
First I want to directly talk about Bawkbasoup himself. He's the ideal streamer you wanna watch. He is virtually reinventing how it works. He does engage his audience a lot during his streams. He also lets them make several decisions, some of which are rather interesting in this particular case. He also has a few bonus RE runs within this marathon because he's a very nice guy.
I also must give him credit for finishing every single RE run within a day each constantly. People don't realize how hard it is. Especially when you throw in BioRand and hardest difficulties of actual RE games in. He virtually kept giving us plenty of RE stuff as if he were giving out candy. Personally I'm more of a salty person than a sweets one myself, I love salty food with an passion.
You could even say Bawkbasoup isn't an RE player. The way he plays even the stuff he never played before. I say he's an RE God, everyone should give respect to. There's plenty of truly impressive runs he's done in this marathon. He kept setting the bar of greatness so high, not many people remotely comes close to that insane level of skill.
Here's the ridiculous game lineup from start to finish down below...

Resident Evil Franchise Marathon started on December 31, 2023. A little over two weeks later on January 17th, Resident Evil Franchise Marathon ends. A sad day for a lot of us RE fans, we still want more!!! Officially clocked in a little over six days worth of RE content. I bet he needs an vacation very soon lol jk pal.
Before I can actually talk about the ridiculous RE stream marathon. Some of you may never heard the term subathon before. When streamers does particular long streams. They directly involve their viewers to possibly subscribe to their Twitch or/and YouTube channels. For every 200 subscribers, he adds another run into the marathon.
Even he stated he originally planned to do nine runs. But he kept getting subscribers at a crazy rate. Basically this marathon turned into a lot bigger than anyone could possibly imagine. He does spice things up with a lot of these runs Three particular mod runs I will be discussing gives that a completely new meaning.
Some of these runs he does an additional challenge. Like early on he's done an Chris knife run in original RE1 or mostly pistol run on Professional in Resident Evil 4 Remake. Clearly he doesn't shy away from an challenge. It's kinda mind blowing he's doing this entire RE marathon the way he is. I would be very proud to shake his hand for just doing this insane RE marathon.
Some of these games we weren't even sure would be possible to do in the marathon itself. A recent example of this being Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. Yes a lot of RE games got multiple runs. This franchise widely known for it's replay value. I'm sure some of us RE fans imagine doing an RE stream marathon like this.
I'm even surprised all four RE6 campaigns got played in this marathon. Two of them were voted in being Jake and Leon runs respectively. Some people do over react about several things regarding RE6. It may be the worst main RE game but still way better than many RE games. It's playable to a degree is possibly the best say I possibly could say about the game itself.
Then you actually watch someone do the very concept to a ridiculous degree live is very mind blowing. This marathon is incredibly true to it's name. You could even say the kitchen sink is in there too. I already discussed majority of these games in greater details. I confess a lot of them I never played before but I would love give them a try.
Here's the list of RE games, prototypes and mods I never played down below...
1. Resident Evil: Deadly Silence
2. Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D
3. Resident Evil: Degeneration
4. Resident Evil Gaiden
5. Resident Evil Survivor 2
6. Kendo Cut
7. Kendo Uncut
8. BioRand
9. Resident Evil 2: Source
10. Resident Evil 1.5
11. Resident Evil 3.5 Code: Madman
Both Kendo mods are essentially parody mods for classic Resident Evil 2. These gets pretty out there with it's humor especially Kendo Uncut doesn't hold back on that. He done three back to back BioRand runs in a row. He directly involves both his Twitch & YouTuber viewers. I was asleep missing out on the first BioRand run setup.
I will explain what exactly is BioRand. At it's core, BioRand is an ambitious randomizer mod. Nearly every aspect of the games it works with altered in ways you can't imagine. More recently, the scripting can get altered effectively transforming these classic RE games into entirely different games. I am not going to sugar coat it, this mod is really mind blowing stuff with it's insane depth.
I still ended up enjoying watching that run, the least craziest out of the three. The second BioRand run ended up being surprisingly awesome in ways I can't explain properly. He does have a notable history with this mod as well as doing several runs of it in a row before. I will be honest I felt very bad about the last BioRand run.
This particular mod run was incredibly unforgiving. I don't know where it would rank among the worst BioRand runs he's done. I could imagine this had to be quite high on the worst list. He struggled to get going in, eventually he figured how to adapt. Which was in all honesty very impressive to me. Just imagine a little too much of a few enemies nearly made this close to impossible run.
Look I know just giving such loose descriptions how bad it was isn't justifying enough here. He did max out the zombies but several creatures showed up a lot more in the actual run. The very creatures that can quickly end anyone RE player's run fast. Both Hunters was notably increased in amount. Surprisingly a lot more zombie dogs especially later in the same run.
Of course, people love Nemesis don't worry there's enough of him too. A few areas had several Nemesis trying to kill him. Keep in mind, all three BioRand runs he also enabled Door Randomizer. Officially I voted for that twice RE2 and RE3 respectively. It's not what I call an win when it was incredibly obvious going to happen no matter what.
Not only the worst of creatures was more notably presented in the game. He also had to deal with Door Randomizer often. One particular sequence he had to wait while a lot of zombie dogs tried to kill em. BioRand absolutely no joke here. He played on Normal but let's be brutally hard. Playing these on Easy would've been Very Hard at best here.
You could even say this was essentially Hell on Earth RE3 experience. It was so intense from start to finish. He had to kept changing the script but maintain most of the options. There's a lot of deaths from this mod run, no surprise. Honestly, I'm even amaze with all the trouble we gave him. He kept pushing toward even the worst it dealt then beat the game, truly inspiring stuff sir.
Honestly I'm glad we chosen RE5 Wesker as the main character. This alone made this a truly rememberable run. Some of the stuff Wesker says was funny. Some of it surprises you because those lines weren't expected at all. Obviously, RE5 Wesker alone was the best part of the entire experience hands down.
You could even say we forced this streamer literately through Hell itself. It was a special kind of torture, I wish I could do something to say I'm sorry for doing such an difficult run. Out of no where one particular poll got a surprise addition. Originally it was going to between another RE6 run or what's left of RE2 Remake respectively.
Someone convinced Bawkbasoup to add Resident Evil 2: Source mod to the poll. I will confess I didn't know the mod, I didn't vote for it. I wanted what was left of RE2 Remake, which also loss the following poll. This was a forgotten incomplete Half-Life 2 mod recreation of classic RE2. I got to say this was surprisingly faithful.
I actually got interested in wanting to give this a try myself. The mod is missing cutscenes, enemies and other characters. Also it is obviously based on Leon A Scenario. A few things quickly tipped me off on that. I'm still surprised we allowed an RE theme mod in a different game into the marathon. I'm not saying it's doom to fall, quite the opposite in fact.
Around January 12th, people started talking about this Source RE2 mod. He did notice some of those himself. He also mentioned people kept asking him to play it. This poll was a golden opportunity for that, you bet majority wanted it. This mod in question was originally released back in 2018. Despite that, a lot of people including myself never knew about the mod until the day of it's stream.
Recently, someone recreated this mod for Garry's Mod. Which is an even easier way to play this mod. Which more people are learning about this version of the same mod now. I'm already a huge fan of Garry's Mod, I may play that version of it very soon after this marathon. I figured to point this out for those interested to give the mod a try especially if the actual mod doesn't work for some reason.
What I meant is people likely going to throw out other games with Resident Evil mods. No guarantee if any of those make it into the marathon or not. You get to see a lot of these games get played in ways you couldn't imagine. Like an knife run as Chris in the original Resident Evil or his RE4 Remake Professional run.
A handful of these RE games ended up being the solo game in their respective streams. He does try to play a few RE stuff during an stream. He isn't taking the easy route in majority of these games either. This guy is very skilled in what he does. He can play a lot of them on their hardest difficulties. Yes you will be seeing that a lot in this marathon.
He gets help from the viewers often during these streams. Some of them even helped made some of these runs possible. I'm not just talking about more subscribers either. They give him advice as well as help him get some of them working including that Source RE mod. Honestly I'm still trying to accept the fact one man is playing all of this alone.
I stated earlier his editors are preparing the long videos on each run in this marathon. They already include a lot of those runs into a playlist. I do have to mention a possible issue that might affect Bawkbasoup in the near future. Recently Capcom is striking YouTube videos with their games being modded.
It's no secret, Bawkbasoup has a lot of modded Capcom runs on his YouTube channel. I don't think they would hit him for classic RE mods as well as RE2 Source mod. The actual concern itself comes from his RE4 Remake run with some of the characters being modded. I guess we will see if Capcom does anything about that upcoming RE4 longplay video or not, I am rooting he'll somehow be fine.
You really couldn't possible ask for an RE stream marathon better than this. I'm not trying to insult every streamer that previously done RE marathon neither those preparing their upcoming ones. What I am saying is this lineup with the insane amount of time that went into it. I could easily say no one's RE stream marathon going to be able to compete with this in the long run, it set the standard!!!
I can't say much on Resident Evil 1.5 other than what's common knowledge about it. At one point, this originally was going to be Resident Evil 2. Capcom decided to scrap the game forcing the team to start over. Which led to the classic version of Resident Evil 2 everyone knows. This was played off an emulator for this marathon.
Although, someone recreated this prototype in a mod. It's not often I see video game prototypes get streamed. Somehow this marathon felt more complete with it being included. Yes he did use a feature to cheat the game a bit but for the most part play it fair. The actual cheating in question was speeding up getting items he needed for the run itself.
He was even able to get an 3DS emulator to work with Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. For those that never played or heard of this game before. Capcom got greedy following RE4 and RE5's The Mercenaries respectively. They decided to get a different company to make a more full The Mercenaries game.
Oddly enough, they chosen to do the very concept on an Nintendo 3DS. Which ended up being one of two RE games released for the handheld. The other RE game being Resident Evil: Revelations 1. Indirectly, it does help tie some of these RE games in the marathon even closer together. This also among the shortest runs he's done for the marathon as well.
He attempted to get one of the mobile RE games to work on his stream. Resident Evil: Degeneration game which a lot of people didn't know existed due to being an mobile game. Most the mobile RE games is mostly in Japan. On January 15th, during his Degeneration run. His stream got cut short, hopefully he didn't get ban over the mods situation.
Oddly enough some of RE4's aspects are presented in Resident Evil: Degeneration. More recently this game gets dubbed the lost RE4 sequel which it technically is. I also believe the same team behind the mobile version of RE4 made this too. I don't know how this measures up to a similar situation that Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop on Wii had.
For those that doesn't know I will help paint the picture. On both platforms a port of RE4 came out first. Then the same team got tasked making another game that brought aspects of RE4. Dead Rising is it's own franchise but still has some similarities to Resident Evil. The point is both these are considered lost games that isn't necessary well received.
Thankfully he was able to restart his stream to continue his run in Resident Evil: Degeneration. Indirectly this helps his editors since they can pull from two streams instead of one. Editing wise, it's much easier to edit a long video using multiple streams than one lone stream from my experience. In all honestly, I am very thankful to tune in to such an truly amazing RE stream marathon.
I usually suck at polls but my second best was BioRand for RE2 in choosing the main character poll. The best is currently a tie no joke. We have RE5 Wesker being the main character in BioRand for RE3. Very recently, my other winning vote in one of these polls is voting Resident Evil 3.5 Code: Madman in.
Officially it's an fan game but also an attempt at recreating what almost was Resident Evil 4. Not a lot of people knows that scrapped RE4 eventually became the original Devil May Cry. Now that in itself was awesome. This fan game had a few multiple endings despite being among his shortest runs by far. Personally I do recommend parts of that scrapped RE4 footage.
It was a major factor why I ended up voting for this fan game. I nearly voted for another Code: Veronica X run that would've been an knife run this time. I just more interested in checking this fan game more since I seen majority of the choices on that poll before. Now you actually can say this Resident Evil marathon virtually has everything.
We got nearly every RE game you possibly could name. We got some of the most famous RE mods. Some of the mini games got played as well. There's also a real prototype RE game. We had a mod that's in an non RE game. We even fully brought in an fan game. I strongly felt in nearly every possible way. This is very Resident Evil right down to it's core, you really can't ask much more than this.
Just in case someone says anything. Half-Life series has some similarities to Resident Evil series. Like both heavily involves science, zombies and somewhat complex story telling. Let's be honest, it sorta made sense for someone to make RE2 Source mod. Obviously Half-Life is more supernatural in comparison with beings from another plain of existence.
We even had a few Handheld RE games including an mobile movie game. Some of which I'm still surprised ended up in the actual marathon itself. To clarify, he reached as far as he possibly could go. No one has the right to question the title of this legendary RE marathon. I couldn't be any happier to being an fellow RE fan during all the madness.
We also have a few alternation versions of the campaigns played. I'm not talking about mods either, it's mostly in a few versions of RE1. He plays Invisible Enemy Mode as Jill in RE1 Remake. Both characters' Rebirth Mode in Resident Evil: Deadly Silence as well. This marathon felt like we're diving straight into not only the multiverse but the fandom itself.
It was predetermined he's going to end the marathon with Resident Evil Village. I am a little worried about Capcom possibly giving him a strike over a modded run. I didn't include RE4 Remake and Village to mods section because it's more or less what some characters looks like. They are much less minor to BioRand and both Kendo Cut mods respectively.
I could say Bawkbasoup or a huge fan of his editing the entire marathon into one insanely long video. Then call it The Greatest Resident Evil Movie Ever. A lot of people would agree it really is. Honestly, this was so much fun to watch. Either during the actual streams or watching the edited longplay videos. You don't feel like you are missing anything.
Although his stream did stop preventing RE5: Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape from getting fully finished. It's hard to say if those still count or not here. Majority of these runs are completed. As stated before, he does complete most of them on hardest or close to hardest difficulties. He was crazy enough to run BioRand in three classic RE games in a row.
RE5: Lost in Nightmares was completed after all. He never finished Desperate Escape in the same marathon due to lack of interest. Also a lot of people weren't interested in seeing him finishing it either. To be fair, Lost in Nightmares was a homage to early RE games. Desperate Escape just felt like something quickly put together that's it.
I don't have much negative to say about the actual stream marathon neither the streamer himself. I felt everything for the most part was done nearly perfectly. I really didn't expect anything like this early 2024. In all honestly, it helped renew some of my views on many RE things over the years. Directly he entertained all of us, we really didn't want this RE marathon to end.
I don't think the marathon suddenly ruined if he were to finish it by playing Shadows of Rose either. No matter what Village was always meant to be it's end. I meant the marathon itself, he likely put it up to a vote, the last one think careful too. The world will never see anything like this ever again, treasure it as much as you possibly can.
