I felt I already said enough regarding both of those. I wanna shine some light on other videos Rolfe made over the years. Some of which is a bit difficult to find since then. I remembered being very inspired by his AVGN show to start making my own review videos. More recently became a reviewer writing my own reviews here.
Rolfe posted a lot of his home made horror movies online. He had a couple short lived video series some people might know. OverAnalyzers was a group of people that covered such unexpected topics. Board James was a strangely interesting video series. Just kept getting stranger as the series went on. He recently posted a video about this awesome museum showcasing stop motion figures from classic movies.
My favorite OverAnalyzers episode was covering Ernest. They concluded he's a God was such a great joke that's sadly forgotten. Board James done Deadly Danger Dungeon. Which was a childhood game Rolfe made to play with some of his friends. People made their own versions since that episode. Such an unforgiving board game style experience.
You Know What's BS? is about a guy ranting about stuff. I may previously mentioned the famous episode gotten on the news. Where he ranted about pennies I'm dead serious!!! He was a bigger fan of movies than games to a degree. But people acknowledge him for both over the years. Monster Madness kept changing up the theme.
One of my favorite Monster Madness marathons was Monster Madness: Around the World. Which had a rough start due to a video editor stolen parts of someone's else of the same movie. Each entry was a deep dive into different countries. A rather impressive entry that kept getting interesting the longer it went on.
There was a time The Angry Video Game Nerd would upload episodes on GameTrailers' website. I do remembered staying up for many episodes back in the day. He also done some joke concept videos like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde movie trailer based on the famous bad NES game. I do also remembered several entries of Turtle Tuesdays.
Turtle Tuesdays was a notable period every Tuesday was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles related stuff. It's difficult to find the famous Michaelangelo now Michelangelo's Pizza Taste video. They recreated every single pizza he ordered on the classic 1987 TMNT cartoon show. A harder to find now forgotten video series.
I really gotta mention a lot of these pizzas were disgusting!!! Very few of them I might consider trying. Turtle Tuesdays was a rather fun time. I do recalled really looked forward to whatever came out during that period. One of my absolute favorites was they played the SNES TMNT: Tournament Fighters. Then Mike lost had to watch a bad direct to video TMNT video.
At the same time, James had to watch around twenty minutes left of the classic live action TMNT movie. I felt this was one of the very best parts of Turtle Tuesdays. The video itself played out perfectly that could've inspired Mike's character in Board James. The last entry was one of Rolfe's childhood birthdays with someone dressed up as a ninja turtle.
Most Unlikely VS Battles being a third part video series. The third and final part is barely hanging online right now. The concept is James and Mike pick a very unlikely matchup. They had to explain how a fight between the characters they picked ends up fighting each other. Who won had little importance but Mike made a funny joke.
A little while back on his Rex Viper channel. He kept uploading Rex Viper videos every Wednesday. You will hear majority of the songs a few times if you watched all of them. Rolfe also had a brief period doing video reviews for Spike channel. Rolfe also assisted in a few documentaries across a few forms of media.
Cinemassacre done several two guys sitting on a couch playing games together. We still haven't heard what's going on with Neighbor Nerds though. I surprisingly enjoyed the double football episode they done. Usually I'm not a fan of football, actually among my least favorite sports. But both of these football games I liked watching.
I know Mutant League Football franchise kept back. Which is a rather extreme take on the sport. Rental Reviews was another long video series in a basement set up like a classic video rental store. Many younger people wouldn't know what that experience was like. Largely due to streaming movies and shows effectively running any of them out of business.
You go into a store to look around. It didn't matter if you were there for a game or a movie. The internet was still somewhat new during my early years in a Blockbuster store. You basically went in for the most part not knowing much about majority of either you could rent out. Imagine a kid in a candy store but the brands they don't realize.
Suddenly they don't know how to feel towards em. Their parents usually buys em candy for the kid to end up loving it. There was also the chance the kid wouldn't like it. The point I'm trying to make is you allow your curiosity take over. Things quickly gets interesting after that. Not many companies making VCR to play VHS tapes around.
VHS tapes quickly gotten overtaken by DVD discs. Some forms were sorta there with streaming where we're at now. Rolfe heavily brings up such nostalgia memories within his viewers. When you actually see how passionate he is about something. You're in for a great time watching those videos. I will be honest, in newer AVGN episodes don't see that as much.
He did try to get a major movie company to back his AVGN movie. He ended up doing Kickstarter with a lot of money raised to finish the movie. He went into a full indie movie direction fitting of his style. I highly doubt a decent movie company would've back the movie. I'm glad he didn't consider trying the shameless movie companies that often rips people off with their movies.
James was among the first notable YouTubers to get famous. Largely due to his friend Mike convinced him to make more AVGN episodes. Which also led to his friendship with the website ScrewAttack now Death Battle. They made their own sequel to The Wizard of Oz. They also had a few animated video series that's kinda meant to be dumb but silly to a degree.
Rolfe also would visit some horror movie locations. He even went to the famous mall that's in Dawn of the Dead original version. Sometimes you really don't know what you're getting with him. There's times that ends up making things quite amazing!!! But other times it comes close to working or something comes up that ends up ruining it.
Spread around his videos reveals a lot of James' life from childhood to his current age. Also a lot of celebrities cameo within many stuff Rolfe was in. Some of which you may never would've expected. I know some people disliked AVGN episodes with celebrities. I personally enjoyed majority of those a lot.
I do have to say I really wish his Mario Paint episode was done differently. It still would have to have a few members of the band Gwar though. Back when Mike still working for the website as well as the first two Cinemassacre YouTube channels. There was a lot more videos a year to where it is right now. This is partly due to the fact, Rolfe has two daughters.
He also wanted to be in a band for a long time. The name of his band came from a joke character off of The Angry Video Game Nerd show. The same character was a hidden skin in AVGN I & II Deluxe. More recently, Rolfe made videos talking about some of his video genres he enjoys. He also covered a lot of movie adaptations of Frankenstein.
Which was quite an interesting video released on my birthday funny enough. I even asked my wife if I could finished watching that comparison video. I also ended up rewatching his Dracula comparison video after that. He implied possibly being up for more of that style videos. He ends reads an entire book in a video.
Where's an audiobook of Rolfe reading you a story at? Rolfe represents what it's like being an indie film maker? He also made this Rocky style video with Kyle the guy who sang the original AVGN theme song. In a way, his life was sorta like Rocky's. He may never been a boxer but he has been dealt some tough blows over the years.
Rolfe always finds a way to get right back up is very inspiring. Originally with Mike's help, a lot of older entries in Monster Madness marathons gotten onto YouTube. This was a bit inspired by James' newest YouTube video with Mike. I felt for the many years of joy, I really needed to say my thoughts. I usually love majority of videos I seen.
If I had to mention a few I wasn't a fan of I didn't previously mention before. I dislike the newer censored versions of several AVGN episodes. To me, that web show was meant to be uncut. To come off with being such raw emotions of anger as well as frustration. I felt some of that either loss or how it's censored changed what some moments meant.
It's also hard for me to get into those versions I'll be honest. I wasn't that crazy about a now forgotten video crossover with Captain S. They also censored The Nerd cursing as a joke. I still haven't played the newest AVGN game it's on my list though. The ones I had played are very decent. Honestly, the right videos you get to witness such experiences meant to inspire you to go for your dreams.
There's a few other video series by some of James' friends. A few from Mike that were short lived with Game Glitches being his most famous one. A particular one I liked not many people remember is with Bootsy. He would give out tips how to get through NES Battletoads. Mike also done a few other duo video series similar to James & Mike Mondays.
James & Mike Mondays is still among their longest web shows to date. For a couple years, every single Monday would've had episodes on a daily basis. An handful of episodes were very funny like Goat Simulator or Use Your Words. Rolfe changed a lot in a few decades. He went from a normal person into such an icon inspiring millions of people.
At times, Rolfe done a couple collection showcasing videos. He is sorta due for a newer one that could've been interesting. It's difficult to believe it's been twenty years for Rolfe being on YouTube. I know some people are mixed with his newer videos. Honestly, I would like to continue supporting the man as long as possible.
Even after how I felt after my first watch with his newest Castlevania AVGN episode. I still think Rolfe has many great stories to share. He also could go in many possible directions to keep things interesting. Not only that, he made a newer version of his famous bad shark movies. I wouldn't mind a newer edit with an hundred bad shark movies at this point.
I really could keep going talking hours worth of stuff about James Rolfe. He's been one of my biggest idols in life along with Jim Carrey. Even if AVGN keeps declining to a degree. People always respected his early years. He always comes out with videos you won't expect that instantly pulls you in. The true magic of why so many people love the man in the first place.
When he's deeply passionate about something. He could take one of the most boring things in existence. But with enough passion from him could easily make it the greatest things ever!!! He even revealed his worst movie that's still sticks in mind since my first watch. I couldn't imagine trying to watch such a film for a notable period.
Honestly, Rolfe should have more subscribers than he has right now. YouTubers like GrayStillPlays who I also often watch has more subscribers with such crazy game videos. Rolfe been through quite a journey since AVGN officially became an web show. So much happened in his life to usually puts his best efforts in anything he works on.
I'm very inspired to kept adding in stuff that might be interesting. I can't apologize much for how messy connecting things could end up being. When you're really inspired by someone. You don't wanna make them sound bad or very off from what others felt about em. Rolfe also done a lot of list videos including in a particular entry of his Monster Madness marathon.
Which had a few lists during Monster Madness X. Which is still among one of my favorite entries despite all the different themes. But to me, Halloween should represent as much variety as possible. Honestly, Rolfe made a lot of bad games famous that ended up coming back. Somehow Rolfe inspires things in ways even he couldn't believe over the years.
James Rolfe will always meant a lot to YouTube. To a lot of people including me for a long time. His legacy is going to be such huge shoes to fill. Who knows if either of his daughters going to attempt or respectively do their own thing? What we do know is Rolfe absolutely loves his fans. He even had a web show where he reads emails for a short period.
I did expect this to be a long blog entry for purely respecting the man himself. Rolfe made a legacy where nostalgia could truly drive people. He also revealed how being indie well anything could be truly amazing. At their work especially on low budgets is quite an challenge. Honestly, his creativity along with that passion helped change me into a better person along with my beautiful wife.
